Types of Painting

Painting is the most commonly accepted form of art that is popular in all places throughout the world. Painting is not about spreading colours on canvas but also expressing your thoughts and ideas through colours and drawings. As we all know, the art form of painting dates back to some 32,000 years when men used to engrave on the walls of the caves. Eventually, there has been a great evolution in the painting style, medium and ways of expression. Different artists use different types of painting style.

Some of the basic modes of painting that we all are acquainted with are as follows:

Landscape Painting: Landscape is the drawings on nature or outdoor scenes. Land, water, sunlight, air and all other natural elements are counted in landscape painting.

Portrait Painting: The drawing of the image of a person or animal is termed as portrait.

Still life Painting: Still paintings comprise of flowers, trees, instruments, foods etc. the paintings of still life is done in various shades of light.

Real Life Painting: This form of painting captures the various actions of daily life such as market place, traffic on road, a get together etc.

Religious Painting: this art form depicts the various idols of gods and goddesses of different religion.

Even the broad divisions of paintings can be subdivided. In portrait, there are a lot of subdivision in accordance to the angel and style of its creation. Portrait can be divided in the following types in relation to individuals, groups, couples and self portraits.
