Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso, popularly known as Pablo Ruiz Picasso or just Picasso was a well known painter and sculptor of Spain. This Spanish painter was born on the 25th of October, 1881. Overall he dealt with painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture as well as ceramics. Along with Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso founded the noted movement of art, named cubism. It was from his father; Jose Ruiz y Blasco that Picasso got the early trainings in art.

His primary learning comprised oil painting and figure drawing. Soon he made a trip to Paris and accommodated himself with a journalist named Max Jacob. During these years, in the year 1901 he founded the magazine Arte Joven.
When the Second World War was at its peak Picasso was in Paris, portraying the social conditions of the entire world through his unique paintings. The art showcased by Picasso did not match the view points of the Nazis; hence his art work had to be kept under cover. Precisely Pablo Picasso’s style of art can be categorized into different periods, mainly the Blue Period (1901 – 1904), Rose Period (1905 – 1907), African-influenced Period (1908 – 1909), Analytic Cubism (1909 – 1912) and Synthetic Cubism (1912 – 1919). As per the records it is believed that he stated off his painting career in 1894. One of his most recognized early paintings is The First Communion (1896). It showcases his sister and the academic trainings and learning he was undergoing. Portrait of Aunt Pepa is another famous painting created by him at the age of 14.
Later, between the years (1899 – 1900) he got influenced by the works of Edvard Munch, Rossetti, Steinlen and Toulouse-Lautrec and brought in modernistic style of painting in his artwork. With the coming in of his Blue Period, his usage of different shades of blue and blue-green and occasion use of different tones became popular. Paintings like Evocation, La Vie, The Frugal Repast, and The Blindman’s Meal are some of his paintings belonging to the Blue Period. Rose Period saw the emergence of new colors in Picasso’s artwork. Usage of bright colors like pink and orange in his paintings portrayed his relationship with Fernande Olivier. Later with the influence of African artifacts his African-influence Period took off. Les Demoiselles d’Avignon painting has a tint of Cubist style of art, which grew much more in the later stage.
During his Analytic Cubism Period the use of brownish colors and shades were the maximum. Usage of collage art was first witnessed in Picasso’s Synthetic Cubism Period, where he used paper or newspaper cuttings in his compositions. In the period of World War I, he was busy displaying hopelessness, brutality and inhumanity through his artworks.The painting Guernica is his most reputed painting of that period. In the later stage of his life he started concentrating more on sculpture making and created a large number of them. In the year 1950 and 1962 he was awarded the Stalin Peace Prize and International Lenin Peace Prize respectively. On 8th April, 1973, at the age of 91 he died in France.
